Foreigner in my own Country
‘For the record
the factory was always fiction
built within itself
twisted metal stolen from the earth’s
steel: shiny, metallic
and richer than the bronze
that drips back onto the ground;
where it will grow into a tree
with branches like scaffolding
and tyres as leaves
that are always dead,
even when bloated,
and the country that surrounds
is billing them for profit-
but I sit here not to judge
but to be judged
and that is the only real crime’
