the Fixture of Glorious Day

there’s a painting in the attic

teeth bared, as well as a soldier’s uniform

bright brass buttons, nail in the wall— is that all? so there’s still time for it to fall…

fame is over, just ask his brother, stepped on a mine and is now in an outer realm

                  supercilious 999

              can this ever be right

when up in the air, looking down on green & blue, it feels so wrong?

cruisin’ on auto pilot, I ask if I can take you out, you answer someday we’ll find a way

                         but not today

                    just enjoy the view

                            not today

                         you rightly say
